Choco Chip Cookies

This is another from the Deanna House book. I'm always looking for a good chocolate chip cookie recipe. This batch came out thick and cake-y. Personally, I enjoy thinner crispier cookies. But these are pretty seriously delicious. They are just sweet enough and the best part is, one is really fulfilling - I didn't feel like having 3 more after the first. Definitely a plus. Here's the recipe:

1 cup of softened butter
3/4 cups of granulated sugar
3/4 cups of packed light brown sugar
2 eggs 1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

2 and 1/4 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of hot water
1 cup of chocolate chips
  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Cream butter and both sugars. Beat in eggs, salt, and vanilla.
  • Stir in 1 and 1/4 cups of flour.
  • Dissolve baking soda in hot water, then stir into mixture.
  • Stir in the rest of the flour (1 cup)
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfulls of dough onto cookie sheet. The real recipe calls for teaspoonfulls. I like mine a little bigger.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes.
