I Shop. Every Day.

I don't live in New York anymore and can't window shop or go to sample sales all the time like I used to. This blog probably gives the illusion that I buy stuff all the time but the reality is that I shop frequently and buy selectively. And you basically have to hold a gun to my head for me to pay full price. Which is why I visit these daily sale sites every day and prowl for deals. I like Ideeli because they feature several brands at a time, and the women's sales hit a range of price points. They also offer Access deals (e.g. pay $50, get $100 off so and so brand) and Red Sales, which I honestly think are just a hodge podge of leftover sale items (but who cares, cheap is cheap). Most recent buy: these Steve Madden and Unisa boots.
Ruelala offers a mix of clothing, accessories, destination hotels, gourmet foods, home items, etc. etc. All the sites I mention here offer men's, kids, and home
, but you can bypass that stuff more easily on those sites than on Rue (which is what I typically do). Every once in a while they'll advertise an event I anticipate for a week- like Tom Ford sunglasses. Most recent buy: A Redwings Fathead for my husband for Christmas. If you don't know what a Fathead is, 1. you're lucky and 2. google it. Gilt Groupe is appropriately named because even with significant discounts, these prices should make you feel extremely guilty. But Gilt Women features some really fun labels, including Walter and Current/Elliot, awesome jewelry (Amrita Singh, Noir) as well as some of my favesies (Steven Alan, Rebecca Minkoff). This is typically a look-but-don't-touch site for me. Swirl is Daily Candy's child, and has young fashionable labels like Lauren Merkin and Michael Stars. I only recently started checking out Swirl, and have yet to buy anything. I spend the least time on Hautelook. Winners are few and far between (e.g. Just a Cheap Shirt, Joe's Jeans) but the site is still worth a peek when you have nothing better to do.

The problem with all this, however, is that I ALWAYS have something better to do, being a doctoral student. Thus, these sample sale shortcut sites are fantastic for girls on the go - they summarize everything above and then some:
Traveling Fashionista
SheFinds

So there you have it, a peak into my neuroses. Bear in mind this post is only about clothes and accessories. It's only the tip of the iceberg.
