One of the things I LOVE about New Orleans is King Cake. You start seeing it in bakeries and grocery stores early in the year, near 12th night (which was a couple weeks ago). My favorite is the apple and goat cheese King Cake from cake cafe -- YUM. While I can never recreate the taste, I can recreate the look. This was B's birthday cake from back in November. I got it as close to Michigan colors as I could.
I know I'm stupid late posting this, but all the Kind Cakes around the city prompted me to get to it. It wasn't as tasty as Cake Cafe, but it was damn good.
