Nothin' Like Apple Crisp

I've always fancied apple crisp as a lazy apple pie. And I still think that's what it is. But it's not any less delicious. I had a bunch of apples lying around because of a promotion at Whole Foods (don't ask) and needed to make something delicious with them. I used this recipe but modified it a bit.

You'll need:

5 apples

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of cloves

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup rolled oats

4 tablespoons cold butter (1/2 stick)
  • Peel, core and chop the apples
  • Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cloves; add to the apples and toss.
  • In another bowl combine flour, sugar and oats. Cut butter into small pieces, and add to flour mixer.
  • Butter a 9-inch square baking dish. Spread apple mixture in bottom of baking dish then sprinkle with flour mixture. Bake at 375° for 30 to 45 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned.
