When the Weather is Right...

...there's nothing like hot chocolate. It hadn't been very cold here at all, but lately it's been really nippy out. I try not to buy the little packs of Swiss Miss chocolate because they are so delicious and consequently, incredibly bad for you. If you commit to making hot chocolate by this semi-homemade way, it will taste better and you'll do it less frequently. That's my theory, anyway. Below is the Hershey's recipe, tweaked a bit.

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup Hershey's Cocoa

Dash of salt

1/3 cup hot water

4 cups (1 qt.) milk

Dash of vanilla creamer
  • Stir together sugar, cocoa and salt in medium saucepan; stir in water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Stir for 2 minutes. Add milk; stirring constantly and do not allow to boil.
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla creamer.
